Being Baptist

John Redpath, Methodist historian – “I should not readily admit that there were Baptist churches as far back as 100 A.D. although without doubt there were Baptists then as all Christians were then Baptists.

Cardinal Hoseas, Catholic president of the council of Trent 1554 – “If the truth of religion were to be judged by the readiness and boldness of a man of any sect, shows in suffering, then the opinion and persuasion of no sect can be purer or surer than the Anabaptists since there have been these for the past twelve hundred years that have been more generally punished or persecuted.”

Independent - means that the head is Jesus Christ [Ephesians 5:23].

Fundamental - means the Bible is the final authority [Proverbs 30:5].

Soul-Winning - means being a disciple of Jesus Christ and bearing fruit for His Kingdom [Matthew 4:19].

KJV Only - means using the preserved word of God, not re-writes based on scraps found in caves [Psalm 12:6-7].

Baptist - means all of the above & only baptizing believers [Acts 8:36-37].

Statement of faith:

The King James Bible is the inspired, inerrant, perfectly preserved Word of the living God for English speakers.

Salvation is by grace through faith. Being born again by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ is the only requirement for salvation.

​

Salvation is a one time free gift, a believer has eternal security (once saved, always saved).

​

Baptism is by immersion in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.

​

The unsaved will spend eternity in torment in a literal hell.

​

Jesus is God, and that Jesus Christ was conceived of the Holy Ghost and born of the virgin Mary. The Godhead consists of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost, these three are one. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost are three distinct persons - The Trinity.
